What we store

When you use the chart builder, we store the guest list, tables, and seating rules you enter so we can build your chart and let you re-run it later from your permanent link. We also set a small cookie (sc_job) so your browser can find its way back to that draft — it's httpOnly, expires after 60 days, and holds only a random draft id, not anything that identifies or tracks you. If you complete a purchase, we store the email address you provide at checkout so we can deliver your chart and handle support requests.

To stop automated abuse of free drafts, each draft also carries a one-way hash of your network address. We never store the address itself. Before hashing, an IPv6 address is shortened to its network prefix (the part shared by every device on your connection), and the hash is mixed with a random value that changes every day and is deleted from our database after two days, so a hash from one day can't be matched to your visits on another. We use it only to count how many drafts and saves come from one connection in a day; it doesn't gate re-exports and isn't used to identify or track you.

Unpaid drafts are deleted automatically after 60 days without changes. Purchased charts are kept so your link keeps working, along with the chart as it was first delivered, so we can help if something goes wrong after a re-run.

Who we share it with

We use a small set of processors to run the service, and each only receives what it needs to do its job:

• Stripe — processes your $14 payment. We never receive or store your card details; Stripe handles that directly.
• Resend — sends your fulfillment email with your permanent chart link.
• Self-hosted analytics — we run our own analytics (Umami) on our own infrastructure to understand traffic, rather than sending visitor data to a third-party ad or tracking network.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data, and we don't share your guest list, seating rules, or chart with anyone besides the processors listed above, which we use solely to operate the service you asked for. The optimizer itself runs in your own browser, in a background web worker — the actual seating computation happens on your device, not on our servers, and no third-party AI service ever sees your guest list.

Deletion

You can request deletion of your guest list, chart, and purchase information at any time by emailing support@seatingchartplanner.com (if you bought a chart, replying to your receipt works too). For an unpaid draft, tell us roughly when you made it and a few of the guest names so we can find it. We'll remove what we have on file, aside from records we're legally required to retain (for example, payment records for tax purposes).

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update this page with a new effective date.
